Today’s Whirlpool Tubs Offer A Way To Improve A Home’s Bathroom

May 18th, 2012

Article by Jordan Beard

Today’s whirlpool tubs offer a lot of advantages that many home owners are now finding appealing because the foreclosure crisis is finally winding to a close. While there are certainly many other types of bathtubs on the market today, these tubs go much further in providing real value that you might not be aware of.

Let’s take a closer look at the whirlpool bathtub and find out what makes it such a hot choice for today’s home owners. If you want to renovate a bathroom in your home, this might just be the smartest way you could go.It is well know that whirlpool tubs offer relaxation via massage and, indeed, this is one of the top reasons that they are chosen. However, this is not the only benefit they offer. To those who are in their advanced years and need a good way to keep their circulation good, having a whirlpool bathtub can be good for health purposes.

The swirling water has been shown to improve circulation as well as eliminate tension from muscles in the back, legs and so forth. In as much as the relaxation provided by these tubs is good, they can help improve the value of one’s home, too, in case they may need to one day sell. In this sense, whirlpool bathtubs become an investment that provides utility right now and value over the long term. Not many other types of tubs are able to offer both at the same time. In addition, they are useful for when guests are visiting as most people do appreciate the whirlpool feature.Other ways that these tubs are used, aside from relaxing baths and improvement of circulation or muscle issues, is that they can be used during child birth by those giving birth at home. Some midwives recommend whirlpool bathtubs as a way to keep mom relaxed either during or after the birthing process. Having one of these tubs in the home is then not only therapeutic for the average person, but also for a new mother that might otherwise have trouble with a standard sized tub.

In the end, the bathtub you choose will be up to you, but choosing one with whirlpool functionality clearly has its benefits. This can be a very smart way to renovate your bathrooms and provide a great place for yourself, your family and those who come to visit to relax and ease the stresses of the day. These incredible bathtubs are gaining in popularity and home improvement experts expect their popularity to continue to rise in the years to come. If you own your own home, this just might be the best type of bathtub you could choose to install today.

My Son, Eli, born at home on July 23rd 2011 at 00:15, after being 8 days overdue and having 3 membrane sweeps! A fantastic experience, had a 2 hour labour with only gas&air and paracetmol for pain relief. Was almost 9cm dilated by the time the midwifw arrived, and she had only come to drop off the tens machine as i thought i was in for a “long one”, but while there she said she’d have to examine me, and so ended up staying. A lovely midwife, completely fantastic! She delivered my daughter Ava too.

Entering the Midwifery Career: Steps on How to Become a Midwife

May 17th, 2012

Article by Johanna Fitch

With the existence of professional regulating bodies, it has been agreed that there should only be one standard route on how to become a midwife. Proper midwifery training serves as the entry ground for those who would like to pursue a career in this field. This educational requirement also has a historical basis, for since the ancient times, rulers had made it mandatory for the midwives to learn certain rules and procedures before they could render their services to pregnant women.

Trainings for midwives are being offered in various career schools, particularly colleges and universities. Students may choose to study for a full-term (bachelor’s degree), an associate (two-years) or a certification course (six-month). However, choosing a particular length of training is not entirely a privilege. The programs are still subject to existing qualifications. For example, an allied health practitioner may simply take a six-month verification course in midwifery, while a high school graduate should take a direct-entry course that last for a minimum of three years.

Whether you are a nurse who considers a career change or a high school graduate who intends to join the midwifery profession, all you have to do is to study and get licensed for the job. Here are the basic steps on how to become a midwife:

Enroll in a midwifery course – You can find a lot of schools offering a midwifery course. In fact, it has recently gone online to help students with busy schedules to study the course at their own pace. Make sure that the school is accredited by the professional regulating body.

Complete the prescribed clinical training hours – On-site training makes up the bulk of the midwifery training, especially in cases of certification courses. In order to gain proper knowledge of techniques in delivering the babies, students are required have a clinical exposure. The same thing goes with an online course; students must attend a nearby community health center for their practicum.

Pass the certification/licensure exams – Upon the successful completion of the course, a graduate of midwifery must be able to pass the qualifying exams that will grant him/her the legal opportunity to practice his profession. Once certified, the working status must be maintained every three years and should not be left dormant.

Although most of the skills in midwifery can be acquired in the training program, a few distinct qualities are somewhat necessary to be inherent to an individual. A midwifery student must have good people skills and bedside manner. A well-written course syllabus should be able to teach the students on How To Become A Midwife who can attend to the emotional needs of the patients.

She also talks about the benefits for the baby and for mama to have a more relaxed birthing than what may happen in the hospital—lots of stress, forms to fill out and a need to educate yourself about the various interventions and assistance that will arise. Doctor’s Voices – Stuart Fischbein, MD

May 12th, 2012

A series of excerpts from interviews with doctors for birth film for fathers,”The Other Side of the Glass.” I’ve been wondering what I could do to help our friends in Australia as well as here in the US where midwifery is constantly under threat. I realize that what Australia and the US need (and so many other places where midwifery and women and baby’s right are being trampled) is to hear the truth from the doctors who are bravely speaking out. I present “Doctor’s Voices” as a way to support midwifery AND the doctors who support the midwifery model of care/mother-baby focused birth and reform of our current system. Deciding Whether You Need an OB-GYN or a Midwife

May 11th, 2012

Article by Denise Johansson

How do you select a healthcare professional for prenatal care and childbirth? You decide on grounds like qualification, certification, experience, and such others. However, even before you start on the selection process, you need to find an answer to a more fundamental question – Do you need a certified nurse-midwife or a doctor specializing in obstetrics gynecology?Taking this decision is easy if you know the right approach. Here are a few questions you need to ask yourself. The answers would direct you towards making the right choice of healthcare professional for prenatal, labor, childbirth and postnatal care. Do you see a healthcare professional already? If yes, you may opt for his/her help during pregnancy and childbirth. However, not all physicians specialize in such care. Perhaps your doctor could advice you about getting another healthcare professional for this time. Ask if he/she can refer someone. How do you want the experience to be? Do you want it to be – natural or with a little help? If you are a first-timer at this, and are terrified of it, you had better get an ob-gyn (obstetrician-gynecologist) instead of a midwife. A doctor specializing in this field would be of immense help if you run into any complications during this phase. Are there any complications involved? If you have a chronic health condition, like high blood pressure or diabetes, and had complications earlier, you need to get a physician specializing in pregnancy and childbirth care. He/she has knowledge of the female reproductive system and experience in handling relevant medical and surgical issues. How do you imagine it to be – individual approach or treatment and care? If you want it to be a normal process without many interventions, a certified nurse-midwife may be a good idea. However, if you want to ensure continuous fetal monitoring, epidurals, and such other things, it is better to opt for an ob-gyn. Another important point to decide on is – where do you want to give birth? Many expectant mothers find hospitals depressing. This is the reason many choose birth centers or at home options. For this, you would need a midwife. It also gives you the option of letting your near ones stay with you during childbirth. However, if there are any complications or if you are afraid that there might be you need to choose a proper center staffed with physicians, nurses and midwives. The most important thing, however, is – whatever you decide on, it is necessary to interview any healthcare professional before you opt for his/her help. If you want a physician, check out the Palm Beach obstetrics and gynecology centers to know all about the doctors who specialize in providing such care. The advantages of having an ob-gyn are as follows:

He/she has essential knowledge regarding pregnancy and childbirthHe/she has previous experience in handling such casesHe/she can manage if there is a complicationHe/she can advice and guide you throughout the phasesHe/she can help ensure proper treatment and careMajority of women opt for an obstetrics and gynecology specialist during this phase.
